Course has been successfully running one-year P.G. diploma Course in Mass Communication & Electronic Journalism since 1998 under the BEd/MEd Department. Media are pervasive in modern life. Through mass media, we learn almost everything we know about the world beyond our immediate environs. An informed and involved citizenry is possible in modern democracy only when the mass media work well. People need the mass media to express their ideas widely. Without mass media, our expression would be limited to people within earshot and to whom we write letter. Messages through mass media bind people into communities, even into nations too. And there is no second say that Electronic media, especially Television, has emerged as the most potent of all the mass media. In a remarkable span of time television has become the most popular medium for entertainment and for news. Today, new media has become so central in modern culture that it is almost impossible for anyone looking at society to ignore it. In fact, new media has the potential to disseminate the best creative work of the human mind and soul. Keeping this insight and the need of the society, it is proposed to launch a two-year Master Degree Programme in Mass Communication & Electronic Journalism. The basic objective of this course is to produce skill professionals for the exponentially expanding world of Electronic Journalism.
