Central Library
The Library is
located at the heart of University and is accessible easily from all departments
on foot.
A typical floor has a carpet area of about 6000 sq. ft. and the Ground Floor
50,000 sq. ft. The library opens from 9 A.M. to 10 P.M. on all days of the week
round the year except for two months, i.e. for one month each during Semester
Examination when it opens till 12 o'clock midnight. However, during the
vacations the library hours are reduced to 8 P.M.
The library
observes 4 holidays (3 National holidays and Holi) during the year. The library
has a collection of about 4.5 lakhs, which includes, books, periodicals, serials
and non-book material. The collection is housed subject-wise under three major
streams, viz. Social, Sciences and Humanities.
Press
Clippings Collection is housed in a separate floor. All staff members of MJPRU
and students are its member. Faculty members are entitled for getting 12 book at
a time, Undergraduate students 4 books, Post graduate students 6 books and
special members and Non teaching staff 2 books. The library provides membership
to eminent scholars as special members and visiting scholars as Consulting
members for specific period. UGC scholarship holders attached to MJPRU are also
its member.
The library houses the
collection on each floor as follows : .
Ground Floor : Periodicals (Social Sciences & Humanities), Text-books and
Reference books.
Ist Floor : Govt. documents, census, UN documents, documents of other
International Agencies, etc. Close sequence material and Art books, Microfilms
and Microfiches. The office of the ICSSR Northern Regional Centre is also
located on this floor.
Science collection is housed in these floors. 2nd floor houses display of new
Periodicals titles, Theses, Reference books and bound volumes of Periodicals
(from 1985 onwards).
Humanities collection is housed in these floors. European language and
literature in 2nd floor and Afro-Asian language and literature .
2nd floor :Russian language and literature books. Press clippings, Social
Sciences collection in Russian language, Engineering books, Pharmacy books.
