Department
of
Humanities
Department of Humanities , aims at widening the nature of exposure that engineers
of today require to survive and excel in their respective fields. Major focus of
the department is on imparting language skills to engineering students,
developing their skills in management and imparting them the basic knowledge of
Economics; since besides their technical expertise engineers need to be well
trained to tackle all problems that may arise from time to time in industry.
While the practice in Communicative English arms the students for the corporate
life that most of them aspire for, knowledge of Microeconomics prepares our
engineers for the challenges ahead. Engineers are not only the harbingers of
development, they have also to work towards sustained growth and extract the
maximum benefit out of limited resources. Industry does not need engineers who
can manage machines only, in fact, industry is all about managing the available
resources and the Principles of Management takes care of this need. All the
three components of this department together so cut and polish the technical
minds that the final effect is bound to be an amazingly brilliant.
The Department of Humanities was established
in 1996 and since its inception it has
been sharing space in the 1626 sq.m. of
Nehru Kendra. There are 3 classrooms. The
department is in its nascent stage as it
was only in September 2002 that regular faculty- 01 Reader in Communicative English and 01
Lecturer in Engineering Economics was
appointed, while there is 01 post for
lecturer in Communicative English lying
vacant. There are 02 guest faculty to
assist in teaching. Communicative English, Engineering Economics and Principles
of Management are the three disciplines that are taught to our students
