Infrastructure Details
Library: The Department has its own library, separate from the central library
of the University. The departmental library is rich in resources and is equipped
with large volumes of books on various subjects, national & international
journals and other reference materials utilized by students, research scholars,
teachers and external scholars. Whereas this library has a stag-room measuring
approx. 1000 sq. feet, its reading room is of the similar size. The library is
computerized.
Media Centre: Established as an ‘Instructional Resource Material Development
Centre’, the media centre is housed within the building of the Department. The
media centre has its own studio with all necessary lighting, shooting, online
and off-line editing equipment with a three-camera professional Beta-cam
Video-film production system. Apart from it, the media centre has a separate
S-VHS setup, which is generally used for training purposes. The Media Centre is
actively involved in designing and development of various types of instructional
materials with a view to integrate learning theories with specific teaching
strategies, to identify and apply basic communication models to teaching
strategies, to motivate the teachers to use them for effective teaching, and to
give knowledge of selecting the appropriate media.

Established as a model school the school
has now turned into a popular intermediate college. Practice teaching being a
compulsory component of B. Ed. (Specializations) courses requires, at the
outset, a model school where practice teaching can be conducted. The University
was quite fortunate to receive a donation with a land of about 4000 sq. mtrs.
with 16 semi-constructed classrooms on it, from the Association of Freedom
Fighters. And the Department managed to establish Pt. Deena Nath Mishra Model
School on the land with an investment from different funds worth Rs. 80.00 Lacs.
And the school became functional as a practice teaching lab. w.e.f. Aug. 15,
1996. With the passage of time the school has grown up in infrastructure with
various labs and is now an intermediate school recognized by U.P. Board.
Computer Centre: The computer centre is another gem in the infrastructure of the
department. This centre caters services to three courses: Applied M.Ed., B. Ed.
(Specialization in Educational Computing) and Advanced PGDCA. Whereas computer
practicals are important ingredient of the Advanced PGDCA course, ‘Computer
Applications in Education’ is a compulsory subject for the student of Applied
M.Ed. The Students of Applied M.Ed. and B. Ed. (Spl. in Educational Computing)
conduct their practicals and develop different CAI and multi-media educational
packages. Practice Teaching Lab.
Rehabilitation Counseling Centre: The ‘Rehabilitation Counseling Centre’ was
established and started in Jan. 1997. The facilities of diagnosis of different
disabilities and psychological problems are available in this centre. The
therapeutic measures are provided to them based on the diagnosis. Different
achievement Batteries, Neuro Psychological Assessment Tools and Behavioural
Screening Tests are available for the proper diagnosis of different learning
disabilities. Similarly Audiometer Computerized Speech and Voice Therapy &
Diagnosis System (Vaghmi) and Computerized Speech Science Lab (SSL) are also
available for the rehabilitation of hearing and speech disorders.
Psychology Lab.: The Psychology Lab.
is catering services for B.Ed. (Specialization in Special Education), Applied
M.Ed., M.Ed. (Special Education) programmes, with the facilities of various
psychological tests, and experiments related to psychology, clinical psychology,
guidance and counseling.
Photography Lab.: Facilities in
the Photography Lab. include dark room and related equipment for developing and
printing photographs. The Lab. has a small studio of its own with necessary
lighting equipment and different still cameras (with accessories) – both digital
and analogue.
Home Economics Lab.: The
Home Economics Lab. is providing practical exposure and hands-on training to the
teacher-trainees in the vocational trades of Garment Designing, Textile
Designing and Food Craft (Backing & Preservation). The lab. has various
equipment and machines like
Business & Marketing Lab.: The
Business & Marketing Lab. is an important part of the vocational education
programme of the Department. This laboratory supports various vocational trades
being run as optional papers for the B. Ed. (Specialization in Vocational
Education) course, such as: Typewriting, Office Management & Correspondence,
Accounting and Auditing. The Lab. contains various equipment (including 15
manual and 4 electronic typewriters) and furniture suitable to the needs of the
mentioned vocational trades.
Science & Technology Lab.: The
Science & Tech. Lab. has the facilities of various practical components of
vocational trades, such as, Industrial Electronics, and Radio & T.V.
Maintenance. The lab. is equipped with digital logic trainer, OP-Amp training
boards, and various testing equipment to meet the needs of practical training of
vocational teachers.
Language Lab.: The training of
languages is not so simple a task as it looks from outside. When it comes to
proper pronunciation, accent and flow in speaking, the language lab. helps a lot
